WebDarn Tough socks pill a bit on the sides, but handle washes very very well. My Smartwool socks are pilling heavily and look ridiculously frumpled at all the seams. They also seem to have shrunk after a wash and don't stretch out as well as they used to. I will be buying Darn Tough socks instead from now on.

Darn Tough on the other hand is owned (to my knowledge) by a much smaller and more personal company. Darn Tough is also made in the US while many of SmartWool socks are now made overseas.
