Web21 Mar 2024 · I did something similar with my air cooler, cut an old CD in half and use it to pull the top plate off from the heat pipes. Paint that plate (I vinyl skinned mine) then just slide it back on. if you only do one plate cooling will be unaffected. I actually didn't know you could pull off the plates. Graphics card on the other hand, can be customized if you are ok with just painting coolers shroud and the visible side of backplate. Painting fans will result in them being unbalanced and a unbalanced 3K rpm fan not be fun to have or will last long.

But not sure I would recommend doing it, at least not spraypainting all of it, as it could affect the cooling capabilities. Ofcourse, you could stick with only painting the top though, as that wouldn't have any effect on the cooling. You can also use a brush and paint the sides, as long as you dont block the airflow of the fins. A thin paint works great for it.
